for Mesa County Treasurer

The Mesa County Treasurer is entrusted with an important responsibility: safeguarding public funds and carrying out the duties of the office accurately, professionally, and according to Colorado law.

As a candidate for Mesa County Treasurer, my priorities are centered on responsible financial stewardship, transparency, excellent customer service, and a professional Treasurer’s Office that taxpayers can trust.

Protecting and Responsibly Investing Public Funds

The Treasurer is responsible for managing and investing significant amounts of public money.

My first priority will always be protecting those funds.

Investment decisions should emphasize safety, liquidity, compliance with Colorado law, and an appropriate return for taxpayers. This isn't a place for speculation. It's about disciplined management of money that belongs to the public.

My experience managing businesses and organizations has taught me that good financial stewardship requires understanding cash flow, anticipating future needs, managing risk, and making decisions with the long term in mind.

I will bring that same approach to the Treasurer's Office.

Excellent Customer Service

For many residents, paying property taxes may be one of their only direct interactions with Mesa County government.

They deserve to be treated with respect.

Whether someone has a simple question about a tax bill, needs help understanding a payment, or is dealing with delinquent property taxes, the Treasurer's Office should be accessible, helpful, professional, and responsive.

Technology should make doing business with the county easier, but it should never replace the ability to talk to a knowledgeable person when help is needed.

Transparency and Accountability

Taxpayers should be able to understand what their Treasurer does and how public money is being managed.

I want to make information about the office easier to understand and more accessible to the public.

That includes communicating clearly about county investments, property-tax collection, tax lien sales, the Public Trustee responsibilities, and the statutory role of the Treasurer.

Transparency builds trust—and public officials should never be afraid of accountability.

Accurate and Efficient Tax Collection and Distribution

The Treasurer collects property taxes and distributes those revenues to the taxing authorities that depend upon them.

Accuracy matters.
