Greg Haitz is a candidate for Mesa County Treasurer in the 2026 election in Mesa County, Colorado. A longtime Western Colorado resident, small-business owner, and community leader, Greg brings decades of experience in financial management, organizational leadership, customer service, and public service.
Greg believes the Treasurer's Office should be professional, transparent, accountable, and focused on one fundamental responsibility: carefully stewarding the public's money.
Why Greg Is Running for Mesa County Treasurer
The Mesa County Treasurer is not a policy-making position. The office is responsible for collecting and distributing property taxes, managing and investing public funds, administering the tax lien process, and serving as Mesa County's Public Trustee.
Greg is running because he believes those responsibilities require steady leadership, sound financial judgment, transparency, and excellent customer service.
As a longtime business owner, Greg has spent decades managing budgets, payroll, employees, regulatory requirements, and the financial decisions necessary to keep an organization healthy through both strong economies and difficult ones.
He wants to bring that same disciplined approach to the Treasurer's Office.
Western Colorado Roots
Greg is a lifelong Coloradan and Western Colorado native. The second oldest of nine children, he grew up learning the importance of hard work, personal responsibility, and strong families.
Greg and his wife, Andrea, have made their home in Grand Junction for more than two decades, where they have raised their family, built businesses, and remained actively involved in the community.
For Greg, serving as Treasurer isn't about using one office as a stepping stone to another. It's an opportunity to serve the community he calls home and responsibly manage resources entrusted to county government.
Small-Business and Financial Leadership
In 2007, Greg founded Rimrock Wellness Center in Grand Junction.
His business experience includes managing budgets and payroll, supervising employees, navigating regulatory requirements, making investment and purchasing decisions, providing customer service, and guiding organizations through changing economic conditions.
Over the course of his career, Greg has served more than 10,000 clients.
Running a business has taught him that financial decisions have real consequences. Expenses must be justified, obligations must be met, employees and customers depend on consistent leadership, and long-term financial health requires discipline.
Greg believes taxpayers should expect that same mindset from the person entrusted with managing public funds.
Experience With Mesa County Government
Greg currently serves on the Mesa County Planning Commission, where he participates in the review of land-use, zoning, and development matters affecting the county.
He is also a two-time graduate of Inside Mesa County, completing the program in 2022 and 2024.
Inside Mesa County provides participants with an in-depth look at county government through presentations, facility tours, and direct interaction with county departments and elected officials.
Completing the program twice gave Greg firsthand exposure to the responsibilities of county government and a broader understanding of how departments work together to serve Mesa County residents.
That experience has been particularly valuable in preparing for an office that regularly interacts with other county departments, taxing authorities, financial institutions, and the public.
Statewide Organizational Leadership
Greg has also served on the Board of the Colorado Chiropractic Association, including serving as its President in 2018.
He assumed leadership during a period of financial and organizational difficulty for the association. Through financial oversight, organizational changes, and an emphasis on rebuilding cooperation within the board, Greg helped improve the association's financial position and organizational stability.
During his statewide service, Greg also:
Helped launch an opioid task force focused on non-pharmaceutical approaches to pain care
Worked with policymakers and other stakeholders during passage of SB18-239, concerning animal chiropractic care
Received the Chiropractor of the Year award in 2017 and 2018
The experience reinforced lessons Greg had already learned in business: organizations need clear priorities, financial discipline, accountability, and leaders willing to work constructively with people who may not always agree.
Leadership Program of the Rockies
Greg is a graduate of the Leadership Program of the Rockies, Class of 2021, a Colorado leadership program focused on constitutional government, free-market economics, individual liberty, and principled leadership.
The program strengthened Greg's understanding of limited government, fiscal responsibility, transparency, accountability, and the proper role of public officials.
Those principles are particularly relevant to the Treasurer's Office.
Greg views the County Treasurer as a fiduciary and administrative office rather than a policy-making position. The Treasurer must operate within Colorado law, protect taxpayer funds, maintain appropriate liquidity, responsibly invest public money, and administer the office professionally.
Greg's Approach to the Treasurer's Office
As Mesa County Treasurer, Greg's priorities would include:
Protecting public funds through responsible and lawful financial management
Managing county investments prudently, with appropriate attention to safety, liquidity, and return
Accurately collecting and distributing property-tax revenue
Providing excellent customer service to taxpayers
Operating transparently so residents can better understand the Treasurer's responsibilities
Administering the Public Trustee responsibilities professionally and according to Colorado law
Maintaining a stable, professional Treasurer's Office with an experienced and capable team
Greg understands that the Treasurer does not determine property values, set mill levies, or independently determine how county government spends its budget.
The job is to faithfully carry out the responsibilities assigned to the Treasurer under Colorado law.
